Last night, we went in search of something sweet, and on the 5th floor of the shopping center next door, sweetness was delivered. Two lines of pies to choose from. Cafe au lait. Cheery Christmas music. I couldn’t resist the super light and fluffy lemon tart. My husband finally settled on the chocolate banana, which tasted just like a banana pudding.

Fugu sushi and fugu nabe, and we lived to tell the tale. Tasty, for sure, but maybe a little over-hyped.

Steak and potatoes Japanese style. Tender slices of kobe beef, cooked medium rare, with spinach, onions, potatoes, a huge slab of butter and a touch of garlic. Served with rice. Mmmmmmmmmmm!

The flight to Tokyo doesnt seem so long when you have multi-course meals to look forward to. First course was a crab filled pastry, melon wrapped in proscuitto, and pickles. Second was chicken meatball with spinach in cold broth, tako sashimi, and a mixed plate of fish, meat, and seaweeds. Third an amazing seabream with dried anchovies on the side. I opted for a cheese plate and a chocolate to finish that meal off. In the afternoon we had more seabream with a custard, soup with tofu skin, omelet and pickles, and a bit of fruit. Now, where’s dinner??
