It is! I figure this is an ode to Donald, since Blue Hawaii is my favorite Elvis movie. I’m listening to Rock-A-Hula Baby right now!
Recipe:
1 1/2 ounces coconut rum (Captain Morgan’s for me)
1 1/2 ounces vodka (Kettle One for me)
1 1/2 ounces blue curacao
1 1/2 ounces sweet and sour mix
Pour over ice, and top the rest of a 24 ounce hurricane glass with pineapple juice (if you’re doing dixie cups, they’re 16 ounces, cut everything down to 1 ounce and top with pineapple juice). Mix with a bar spoon, and if you want to get fancy, garnish with umbrellas, pineapple, maraschino cherries… whatever’s fun, kitschy, and available!
This girl aims to eat something tasty every day, and while I'm generally successful at that goal, I'm not quite as successful at capturing an image of said tasty food. But I try, and that's what this blog is about!
So keep a careful eye here so you can remember old favorites, preview things to come on Madd Hatter's Kitchen, and discover yummy treats out and about the town.
This looks delicious!

Thanks for the recipe, Mary & Dad! 🙂
love the color 🙂 what’s sweet & sour mix? what can one substitute?
It’s that stuff that most people use for margaritas — you can find it at the grocery or liquor store with the mixers. Or, you can make your own, as it’s just simple syrup with citrus juice: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/drink/views/Homemade-Sweet-and-Sour-Mix-for-Margaritas-200594
ah perfect!
